Moviment Graffitti salutes Charles Miceli

Moviment Graffitti activists are in utter shock, speechless after receiving the news that Charles Miceli, a towering figure in the struggle for social justice in Malta, has passed away.

No words can explain the void he leaves, not only on a political level, but also on an emotional one. He was an inspiration to all of us; leftists, activists and all those who believe that another world is possible. Up to this day, we had been fighting together for rent regulation in Malta, and last year we were together in demanding a decent minimum wage. Charles was a kind hearted, genuine person. He always lived true to his principles, helping people in need while fighting for social, political and economic change.

We are sad, we’re in tears and we feel orphaned. Charles, your loss make us feel lost. At this point we can only promise you that your spirit, your thirst for social justice and activism, will continue living in all of us.

Il-Moviment Graffitti jsellem lil Charles Miceli

L-attivisti tal-Moviment Graffitti huma ixxukjati, bla kliem, wara li semgħu l-aħbar li Charles Miceli, figura ċentrali fil-ġlieda għall-ġustizzja soċjali, għadu kemm ħalliena.

M’għandniex kliem sabiex niddeskrivu l-vojt li ħalla Charles, mhux biss fuq livell politiku, imma anke dak emozzjonali. Charles kien ta’ ispirazzjoni għalina lkoll; xellugin, attivisti u dawk kollha li jemmnu li dinja aktar ġusta hija possibbli. Sal-ġurnata tal-lum, konna għadna qed niġġieldu flimkien sabiex ikun hawn regoli fil-kera f’Malta, u s-sena li għaddiet konna qegħdin nikkampanjaw flimkien għal paga minima diċenti. Charles kien persuna qalbha tajba u ġenwina. Dejjem għex fil-prattika l-prinċipji li kien iħaddan, jgħin lil min għandu bżonn filwaqt li jiġġieled għal bidla soċjali, politika u ekonomika.

Ninsabu mdejqa, bid-dmugħ f’għajnena u orfni. Charles, it-telfa tiegħek iġġiegħlna nħossuna mitlufa. F’dan il-punt nistgħu biss nwiegħduk li l-ispirtu tiegħek, l-għatx għall-ġustizzja soċjali u l-attivizmu, jibqa’ jgħix fina lkoll.
